What is Cory's Kitchen about?

A Non-Profit, Organization

In July of 2001, Cory’s Kitchen incorporated as a non-profit, charitable organization called Cory's Kitchen, Inc. We have a core group of about 200 volunteers including counselors, food handlers, typists, data entry operators, and drivers. Additionally, the local Christian College (Azusa Pacific University), local high schools, and several local churches supply a steady stream of new volunteers each week to help us with our task.it-Bod for the Body and Soul

Cory’s Kitchen provides emergency food to families in need.  Families can obtain an allotment  of  food once a month, for a period of six months.   The amount of food distributed to each family is dependent on the food collected from grocery chains and outlets that week, and from government food available to Cory’s Kitchen. It is usually a five to seven day supply.  The size of the family is also taken into account.  There is a brief intake process to enter the family into the Cory’s Kitchen database, which helps us determine the size of the family and any other needs they may have.

Cory's Kitchen clients receive more than food. Counselors assess their needs and refer them to jobs and other services,  such as:  continued education, clothing services, legal services and counseling.

As of April 1, 2005 we moved into our present location at 1418 Arrow Highway in Irwindale. While the overhead cost has increased, it has enabled Cory's to step up to the next level; offering better services, more often, with better expansion potential.  No cost is ever passed on to our clients. Everything they receive, from food to training,  is absolutely free. They can participate in or reject any part of our program.  No one is coerced into any portion of our program.

Mission Statement

Cory’s Kitchen, Inc. was formed to meet the needs, both physical and spiritual, of hungry, hurting individuals. Our purpose is to share our food, our faith, our care, and our compassion with others while they are going through their current situation. We exist to help these wounded people identify the changes needed in their lives, to restore them to health, happiness, and dignity.
