Our services fall into three basic categories; Food Distribution, Job Placement Services, and Referrals for Life Enhancement Skills and Tools.

Food Distribution - We currently have 5 locations to serve you with our 6th location scheduled to open in July 2010. At each of these locations Cory’s distributes grocery store items including toiletries, household cleaning products, non-perishable packaged food, canned goods, baby care items, baked goods, produce and dairy products to those in need. This is our weekly 'main event'. Each person entering our doors is registered, given an opportunity to speak with a counselor and is given a monthly food allotment. While being counseled, each person has the opportunity to explore potential job opportunities, or take advantage of our extensive referral program for needed services. Each person in need qualifies for a monthly food allotment for a 6 month period. After 6 months, if the individual is still in need, their needs are assessed on a case by case basis. Those with on-going critical care needs (on SSI, Welfare, etc.) will be allowed to continue for another 6 months. Those who do not have a critical care need will be referred to another food bank which may be able to better meet their needs or assist them with personal change that we have been unable to accomplish.

Our headquarters location is in Irwindale. Our distribution hours are every Tuesday night from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Appointments can be made for day-time service by calling the office.

Job Placement Services - One of the most powerful additions to the ministry of Cory's Kitchen has been brought to us by Jennie Suguitan. Jennie brings with her a talented history specializing in Job Placement Services. Each week Jennie adds to our current list of job openings within our community into our ongoing database. She conducts interviews with those who are present that day to determine the extent of their qualifications. She assists them in preparing effective resumes. She teaches our guests how to do on-line job searches. Jennie conducts mock-interviews and teaches behavioral based interviewing tips. Our guests are then referred to potential employers for their evaluation. These jobs range from manual labor positions to Corporate CEO positions. Various employers in our community have volunteered to work with us and take referrals of qualified individuals for potential positions within their own organizations. This proves to be one of the most successful avenues for job placement that we have encountered. We can conduct the interview process for the employer, gather all the necessary information, and validate employment history, thereby saving valuable time for the busy company HR department, and present viable candidates to choose from.

We have developed partnerships with several local Thrift Stores in order to supply our qualified candidates with the appropriate attire for interviews – at no cost to them.

We have a job board where we post jobs that we hear of for our clients to read over. We give them the appropriate contacts and referrals, as well as a letter of introduction when it is appropriate.

Finally, we have an extensive referral database offering Life Enhancement Skills and Tools. While some of these opportunities are offered at our Main Warehouse, many of them are offered in various churches, social clubs, and government agencies located throughout the San Gabriel Valley. Sharpen Your Interview Skills
Qualified interviewers, such as HR representatives, job placement agencies, etc., periodically give us materials to conduct training in interview skills, or in fact, conduct the classes for us. Additionally, we perform one-on-one trial interviews with people before they go to any appointment they may have for a potential job.

Resume Writing
In addition to our Interview Skills classes, we also provide a resume writing service. We interview the client to determine his past work history, validate the authenticity of the information, and put it into a standard format that is presentable and clear to potential employers.

Dress for Success
Besides Cory's Kitchen supplying emergency clothing, we occasionally have a gift of designer dresses, name brand clothing, etc., from a department store or fashion designer that we pass on to our clients. Additionally, we also teach classes on proper attire for interviewing, daily dress of the workplace, and image enhancement for success. These are typically 2-3 hour seminars put on by professional interviewers and corporate volunteers.

Religious (Basic Training for New Believers)
Designed with the New Believer in mind, this class teaches the first critical steps a new believer needs to be concerned with as you begin your daily walk with Christ. Topics include practical study tools, foundational doctrine, and the opportunity to ask questions.

Growth Groups - Set Free (Faith Community Church)
